Courtyard
The Port Moresby Grammar School is located in East Boroko, beside the Port Moresby Tennis Club. The school caters for 1,450 students from Prep to Grade Twelve. It is an architecturally designed, purpose built complex. Classrooms have been constructed around a central courtyard which is a main feature of the school. Four large canvas sails cover the courtyard and lush, tropical gardens form the perimeter. A haus tambaran, a traditional meeting place for people from the Sepik region, has been adapted to provide a stage area for school performances. The haus tambaran is floodlit at night and is clearly visible to passing traffic. It serves as a reminder of the importance the school places on traditions and cultural values combined with relevant education for the students of today, our leaders and business people of the future.
The Library
The school has a modern, air-conditioned library. The Junior and Senior libraries are combined in the one building. Students use the library for study, research and borrowing. It holds a wide range of books, CD ROMS, journals and textbooks. The library aims to develop a resource bank to support the school curriculum and to provide a peaceful retreat for students to browse, study and develop a love of books.
